About the Role
As a Cabling Technician at TriTech, you’ll be responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting structured cabling systems for businesses. You’ll work hands-on with Ethernet, fiber optic, and low-voltage cabling, ensuring clean, professional, and properly certified installations.
This role involves working on-site at client locations, collaborating with network engineers and IT teams to provide reliable and well-organized network infrastructures. You’ll help businesses stay connected, eliminate downtime, and future-proof their networks with high-quality cabling solutions.
Key Responsibilities
-Install, terminate, and test low-voltage network cabling, including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, and fiber optic cables.
-Perform cable routing, dressing, and labeling for a clean and professional installation.
-Test and certify new and existing cabling using Fluke testers or equivalent equipment.
-Troubleshoot connectivity issues, signal losses, and cabling faults to maintain network reliability.
-Install and mount network racks, patch panels, and cable management systems.
-Work with network engineers, IT teams, and electricians to complete cabling projects efficiently.
-Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards, ensuring compliance with BICSI, TIA/EIA, and NEC regulations.
-Assist in cabling for VoIP systems, security cameras, access control systems, and wireless networks.
-Maintain accurate documentation of installed cabling layouts, test results, and certifications.
Requirements
1+ years of experience in structured cabling or low-voltage installations.
Hands-on experience with Ethernet, fiber optic, and coaxial cable installations.
Knowledge of cable types, terminations, and testing procedures.
Familiarity with network infrastructure components (switches, patch panels, racks, etc.).
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and technical schematics.
Strong troubleshooting skills for network connectivity and cabling issues.
Experience using cable testers, fiber splicers, and termination tools.
Certifications such as BICSI, FOA, or OSHA 10/30 (preferred but not required).
Ability to lift and carry 50+ lbs, work at heights, and operate scissor lifts or ladders.
